Do You Wear A Mask Everyday?
Do you show up as the best version of yourself, or do you put on a mask as a means of protection? Thoughts like - I'm not skinny enough, not smart enough, not good enough, not powerful enough, not certain enough - all come from a scarcity mindset. We have these thoughts and compare ourselves to others, but this mindset doesn't serve us, and therefore we don't show up as our best selves. We hide behind things like business, modesty, or even disengage completely in order to protect ourselves. We hide because we don't want to be seen as vulnerable, and in doing so we miss out on opportunities for growth and change.
Social Scientist and author Brene Brown discusses the concepts of vulnerability Wholeheartedness in her book Daring Greatly. At the core of Wholeheartedness, she says, is facing uncertainty, exposure, emotional risks and knowing that you are enough. Imagine having the thought you are enough? How would you feel? What would you dare to do? How would the results in your life change?
You are in control of creating your life. You can choose to take the mask off and open up to vulnerability. Brown says "Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren't always comfortable, but they're never weakness". Listen - you are not entitled to an easy life. As you evolve there will be uncomfortable feelings - but that's ok - you can handle it. Show up - be seen - and know you always have your own back.
This week I encourage you to "Dare Greatly". It can be as small as saying hello to a stranger, or as big as anything you can possibly imagine. Stop letting your brain trick you into believing the self defeating thoughts, and begin treating the world to your amazingness!
