Believe Me - Time to Change the Record



Did you know you can believe anything you want?  No, really - you can!  How fantastic is that?  My teacher, Brooke Castillo, reminds us of this all the time.  Do you recall what a broken record did - it would repeatedly skip back to a moment and keep replaying the same part over and over and over.  Eventually someone would have to get up and make an adjustment on the player, or get rid of the record entirely.  We are able to do that with your beliefs as well.  

What we believe and focus our mind on is a choice.  Often times we just think “that’s how I am”, or believe the stance we take is just there, making us us.  What we currently believe is based on our past.  If you want to create a different future you need to create something that hasn’t existed, which would entail changing your current belief system.  This requires consciousness, and deciding on purpose to change what you want to believe.  Here’s the thing - if you already believed it, you would have that result. 

This is important because if you are trying to drink less or weigh less and catch yourself saying “I’ve tried that and it didn’t work, so I know it won’t work”, you might as well kiss the dream goodbye.  You need to start believing something you’ve never believed before.  Check this out - you can believe you are 100% worthy, you can believe you totally got it this time, you can believe you are successful, fun and amazing.  You know what else - you don’t need anyones approval to do so!  

So if you believe whatever you want, and your beliefs determine your results, you can truly create whatever you want!  Developing a new belief system may not be easy at first.  The first thing to do will be to take a moment and visualize what you want to believe.  Next, create a sentence in your mind and believe it as true.  Practice and repeat this new belief in order to have it become your new tune.  Remember - you had the broken record on that player for years.  Now is your time to get up off the couch, put the wine and chocolate down, and change it.  I believe when you do this, your life will top the charts!
