Caring What Others Think About YOUR Drinking & Eating
Welcome back to Thinking about Drinking Thursday, where we discuss tools to help you drink less. If you are a highly functioning gal who has decided to cut back, or quit drinking - this is for you. If you have been saying you want to drink less, but haven't been successful I want to help by sharing some tools with you.
Did you ever notice if you want to cut back or quit drinking people automatically think you have a problem, or something strange must be going on? If you stop to think about it, it’s quite fascinating. I have cut back, and some of my loved ones are starting to think I’m getting weird. I had to point out they've always found me to be the odd one - and that's ok.
If you are trying to cut back you may encounter others telling you "oh - so you are being good", or questioning why you are now doing this - or worried things are going to change because you are no longer fun. I'll let you in on a little secret - that's all perfectly acceptable. You see - if you are worried about what everyone else is saying or doing you will not be placing the focus on what you want to do for you. You may also encounter this if you are trying to lose weight as people start to discuss how you are eating. You may find these situations present a challenge. I want to tell you it’s all good.
Here's what I want to offer you as an example of how easy it could be to not care. I have blond hair (well - currently I do - since I pay for it, the possibility of change exists). If someone said to me they think my blue hair looks terrible I would not have a second thought about how incorrect they were. My hair is clearly not blue. I don't care one iota what they are saying because I know it's not true - they are wrong. So why do we care so much when we are trying to make changes to up-level our lives?
Imagine a world where people could be wrong about you. Here's the thing - no matter what you do - drink less, eat better - everyone is going to have their different opinions. If you can be ok with that, you will feel so much more freedom in your own life. Take away the chatter of what others think and focus your brain on what you want your future to look like. You totally got this - that you can believe!
