How Balance Of Emotions Changes Your Life

I love the responses I get when I tell people I am a Life and Weight Coach.  Some think I’ve joined a cult, others think I only promote positive thinking.  Life coaches actually specialize in a variety of client specific areas.  I work with highly functional women who want to drink less or weigh less in order to feel more in control.

Different coaches have different approaches.  The tools I share come from my training at the Life Coach School.  One of the tools that has made a significant difference in many lives is the idea of the Balance of Emotions.  This is a theory that the human experience is designed to be made up of half “negative” and half “positive” emotions and that this duality adds value, meaning and depth to our lives.

Take a moment to really think about this.  So often we fight against what is.  We think things should be different.  We think we have to feel better, and in resisting the negative we make ourselves feel worse.  We don’t want to feel bored or anxious or stressed, so we buffer.  Buffering is something done to avoid fully experiencing one’s life that has a net negative consequence.  Overeating, overdrinking, overspending, overporning - anything done in excess and at one’s own expense.  The extra glass of wine, or extra cookie seems to be the answer in the moment, but it never solves the problem.

The way you reach a Balance of Emotions is to understand nothing has gone wrong.  It is ok to feel a negative emotion.  An emotion, or feeling, is just a vibration.  It may be a heart racing, or a tightness in chest - it will not kill you.  We need to experience negative, in order to know what positive it.  When you understand it’s just part of life you can release the extra negative feelings of trying to escape or spin it positive.  You can stop using your energy to fight against what you think should be, and embrace what is.  We think we are entitled to an easy life, but I think if that were the case we wouldn’t be where we are.  Just take the time to think about what you could create with the energy you currently use to either fight against what is, or buffer your life away.  Imagine what you would do in the world if you were willing to just feel a little uncomfortable as you make your way to your dreams!
