How To Pick Top Ingredient of Your Success

Happy Saturday!  So many of us have a variety of activities each weekend.   I have a number of items for work and home I want to get cleared up, and woke up feeling anxious and hurried.  I took some time this morning to look at those feelings - anxious, and hurried, and really thought about how much I will get done feeling that way, vs what I would need to feel in order to be productive.  I want to share some tools with you if you come across this situation as well.

Emotions drive our actions.  Some of the most common indulgent emotions are confusion, overwhelm, emotional exhaustion, and worry.  In most cases none of these have an upside.  So the first step I encourage you to do is recognize when you are feeling this way.  These emotions like to keep the brain busy, but do not tend to fuel action.  The next step will be to work on eliminating them, and choose a feeling on purpose in order to accomplish your goals.

Take a moment and think about the last birthday cake you made - the result was the amazing cake, and in order to enjoy that you had to go get the necessary ingredients and actually do the work to make it.  Think of emotions as ingredients for results in the amazing life you want to create.  You have to pick the ingredients out and do the work to make your dreams come true.

Pick and emotion and practice it.  For example, today I am working on feeling determined and focused.  I woke up feeling anxious and hurried it was because I was thinking “I have so much to do, I’ll never get it all done in two days”.  Those thoughts and feelings will not lead to a productive weekend.  Instead, I am choosing to feel determined and focused, as I think “I will make my plan for the next two days, have everything on calendar, and get it all done”.  It is a totally different mindset and I will have a awesome productive weekend.

Give it a whirl yourself - think about what you want to feel, what do you need to think to feel that way, how can you commit to feeling that way, and how will you act when you do?  Feeling on purpose is one of the best skills you can develop.  When you make a commitment to the emotion do not waver.  Tell me here  how you plan to feel your way towards your goals!

Each week I offer 2 free mini sessions, first come first serve, to women who have had weight loss surgery and find themselves still struggling with food, or have developed a new struggle with overdrinking.  If you want to feel more in control and peaceful, sign up here  to discuss how my program may help you.  Some may not be a fit, and that is fine - I consider it a privilege to offer free help in advance.
