The Building Blocks of Creating Your Life On Purpose
Whether you are enjoying a Sunday Fun-day or a Restful Sunday - this is an important piece of information worth sharing again. The foundation of awareness lies in knowing the difference between a Circumstance and a Thought. Here’s how - please enjoy!
It’s so interesting how we look at circumstances in our lives as facts, yet most of the time they are simply thoughts. I talk to so many people who want to share their stories and believe all of it as truth. What I want to do is point out areas that are thoughts, and show them they can decide to keep the thought if it serves their purpose in life, or exchange it for a new one that will.
Let me help break it down. Circumstances in our lives are the things that occur in the world around us. They are things we do not have control over, and can not directly change. They are facts that can be agreed upon in the court of law. Examples may be weather and other peoples behavior. Thoughts are sentences that run through our minds. We choose thoughts about the circumstances in our lives. Often times we stay safe, keep expectations low, and just recycle the same thoughts, keeping our lives status quo. Sometimes we are aware, but most often we don’t even realize we are having thoughts. On average we have 60,000 thoughts a day so who could possible recognize all of them?
If you want to make a change I have amazing news for you. You can take your life to the next level by changing your thoughts - and that my friends, is where the magic lies. In order to start this process we must build awareness. Most of us live an unconscious life - not even knowing what we are really thinking. So the first step is to notice what you are thinking. Notice how that thinking creates your feelings. We need to create consciousness before we can make any significant changes. Please don’t hear me wrong - I am not encouraging rainbows and butterflies. I am encouraging awareness.
Let me give you an example of a circumstance and a thought. Your boss fired you — this is something that is factual, and can be proven in the court of law. Your thought is - she/he doesn’t appreciate me, doesn’t understand what they will be missing and I can’t believe they did this. It is not a fact that your boss doesn’t appreciate you - its your thought. Notice how that thought makes your feel.
For this week I encourage you to just notice the difference. Notice when you tell your stories - are they thoughts or facts? How do you want to think on purpose to create your amazing life? Please contact me here if you have a question about an example. Each week I offer 2 free mini sessions, first come first serve, to women who have had weight loss surgery and find themselves still struggling with food, or have developed a new struggle with over drinking. I can help you cut back on drinking, feel more peaceful, and in control. Sign up here to apply, no obligation, for a 20 minute session.
