Can You Really Not Drink At A Wedding?

Welcome back to Thinking about Drinking Thursday, where we discuss tools to help you drink less.  If you are a highly functioning gal who has struggled with your weight, and now finds yourself drinking more than you want - this is for you.  If you have been saying you want to drink less, but haven't been successful I want to help by sharing some tools with you.

Have you been to a wedding recently were they had an open bar?  I mean a true open bar - you gaze past the bartenders and you have every assortment of alcohol available to you.  It can be kinda fun to think maybe you will try something different - and it is free!   Now I want you to imagine the same idea, but instead of alcohol insert emotions.  Imagine all feelings are available to you all the time, and the only thing they cost you are the thoughts you assign to them.

Everything we do in life is because of how we think it will make us feel.  The first step in deciding how you want to feel is to become aware of what you are currently feeling.  If you notice yourself feeling a negative emotions thats ok.  Understand it is all part of the human experience.  Instead of buffering with wine notice it’s presence, and decide if you can just embrace it, or work on changing your thoughts in order to  feel the emotions you most desire.

One of the best skills you can develop as you work to drink less is to begin deciding on purpose how you want to feel.  This is important especially as you head into a challenging situation, like a wedding.  Once you develop a drink plan for example, you want to mentally think about how you will need to feel in order to stick to it.  Do you want to feel confident and committed to your planning?  If so, what thoughts do you need to think?  Practice how you show up feeling committed.  This truly is a key to success in as you go through this program - and the bonus is, as you honor your commitment to yourself you also build confidence in knowing you have your own back!

Each week I offer 2 free mini sessions, first come first serve, to women who have had weight loss surgery and find themselves still struggling with food, or have developed a new struggle with overdrinking.  If you want to feel more in control and peaceful  sign up here  to discuss how my no obligation program may help you.  Once you sign up you will receive a call in number and appointment reminder.  Some may not be a fit, and that is fine - I consider it a privilege to offer free help in advance.
