What Is Your Biggest Dream Stealer?

TGIF!  What are your goals for the weekend?  So often we make a list of things to do and then just see how the weekend shakes out.  Obstacles come up, fires need to be put out, or you just decide the original idea was too much to do, and you relax instead.  Here’s the thing, confusion, doubt, self-pity and fear of some of the biggest dream stealers.  These are feelings that lead to inaction, instead of massive action.

In order to get your goals done you will likely feel uncomfortable.  Consider discomfort the currency you will pay to accomplishing your dreams.  Decide on purpose that you want to feel uncomfortable now, as you make your way to your goals, or you will feel it long term when you don’t actually accomplish anything.  Understand what your feelings now are, and notice why you have not already completed your goal.    Brene Brown discusses this idea of Minding the Gap in her book Daring Greatly.  It’s the idea of paying attention to where you actually are, and where you want to be.  Embrace your own vulnerability and discomfort in between, understanding you don’t always have to be perfect, but you do have to be committed.

Let’s say you want to lose 30 pounds.  Write down every single thing you need to do.  For example, create protocol, grocery shop for protocol foods, manage urges, weigh daily, complete journal entries consistently.  Now how do you feel when you initially look at this list?  Does that feeling drive you to the next level with steps of massive action, or do you feel confused and overwhelmed because you don’t know where to start?  You have the power to decide on purpose what you want to feel - perhaps committed, excited, disciplined, or willing will be more useful in moving you forward.  Decide, and then cultivate a believable thought that will make you feel this way.  If you can commit to yourself you will see how your life can change.  I’m not saying it will be easy, but I promise you it will be worth it.

Each week I offer 2 free mini sessions, first come first serve, to women who have had weight loss surgery and find themselves still struggling with food, or have developed a new struggle with overdrinking.  If you want to feel more in control and peaceful  sign up here  to discuss how my no obligation program may help you.  Once you sign up you will receive a call in number and appointment reminder.  Some may not be a fit, and that is fine - I consider it a privilege to offer free help in advance.
