Why You Should Stop "Searching" For Your Purpose

It has been a long week, and I am looking forward to some fun this weekend!  We don’t have kids, but we have one visiting this weekend which will infuse an air of refreshment.  In the past I’ve had plans, plans, plans, go, go go on the agenda.  This weekend I’m thinking we can slow down (well, a little) and I am considering a vision board project with her.  I want to use it as an opportunity to discuss how she is already purposeful, she is already magnificent, 100% lovable and she can decide what she wants to create in her life from there.

So often I work with clients who want to “find their purpose”.  I too have spent years searching for mine - as if we are all on a treasure hunt.  We look to others for ideas of purpose.  Someone like Mother Teresa obviously had a purpose, and then we start feeling guilty because we are pretty sure she wasn’t waking up Sunday morning with the negative self talk from drinking too much Pinot G, or having the king size Twix bar the night before.  We make that mean we are pretty much doing it wrong, and we are failing at living a purposeful life.

Imagine if you believed your purpose if humanness.  Imagine you are already enough, you are complete.  The purpose of the Spirit within you is to be here, and you already are purposeful.  The most important person taking notes, judging, and grading you is you - not everyone else.  Stop trying to arrive at the place where you will prove that you are good enough.  When you stop chasing purpose and realize there is nothing you have to do you can choose a purpose that matters to you.  Your life will open up.  When you start doing what you truly want to do and believe you are good enough you are less likely to buffer with wine and food.  Don’t keep searching for your purpose - life is not a game of hide and seek - decide, create and watch you life explode.  This will make your experience on the planet way more fun.

Each week I offer 2 free mini sessions, first come first serve, to women who have had weight loss surgery and find themselves still struggling with food, or have developed a new struggle with over drinking.  I can help you cut back on drinking, feel more peaceful, and in control.  Sign up here to apply, no obligation, for a 20 minute session.
