Choose Love - Start with Your Thighs

I was listening to my teacher Brooke Castillo recently as she was discussing love.  She said the best way to start bringing more love into the world is to start with your thighs.  I almost fell over laughing, but that is so true.  The timing could’t have been more perfect as I was negative self talking about what the scale told me earlier this morning (now that scale is an entirely other post ).

It’s so fascinating how our brains so easily tell us all that is wrong within.  We will act so much more lovingly in the world when we can take the time to love ourselves first.  It is almost like when you are on a plane and they tell you to put your mask on before the kids.  You need to love yourself in order to bring more love to others.

Pay attention to your thoughts.  Become curious about what you tell yourself.  Decide if what you hear is a fact, or simply a thought.  Although it may seem factual, most of the time it is just a thought, so be on to that.  The beautiful thing is you can decide if you want to keep thinking that.  You can always decide to think loving thoughts, without the other person changing.  Here is a quick example - I can tell you a story about how awesome our dog is.  I can tell you how much he loves to be up my butt following me around all the time, snuggle at night on the couch and sit with my husband on his leather chair - he is just so fantastic (yes, actually the husband and the dog).  You can feel such a sense of love for the dog.  Now, what if I tell you before we got him he attacked a child (he didn’t - I’m just using this as an example).  All of a sudden you may not love him so much.  He didn’t change, your thoughts did.

Try this idea out first with yourself.  Find reasons to love yourself.  If thats too challenging find reasons to at least really like yourself.  At minimum you can tell yourself you have amazing thighs that carry you around.  Choose to love yourself - there is a tremendous upside.
