Your Brain Will Revolt When You Eliminate This Reward



If you have struggled with losing weight, and have tried everything else, I encourage you to consider doing additional research on the importance of insulin, leptin, and ghrelin hormones.  When I work with clients we discuss the elimination of flour and sugar in order to lose weight.  The science supports reducing insulin levels, and getting rid of the processed foods are a key component.

Reducing or eliminating theses culprits is easy.

Dealing with what comes up when you stop having them is the hard part.  

This is where the work is.

We have learned to over desire food, and in order to lose weight we have to break that pattern.  We have a thought like "that will taste amazing", or "I want that", and we feel desire, then we reward with the food.  The brain receives an unnatural amount of dopamine and now believes this food is necessary for survival.  Because the brain likes to be effeicient is delegates these well practiced thoughts to our lower brain, and it makes it all seem as if getting to the bottom of the bag of chips "just happened".

Now you decide to eliminate these "rewards", and the brain wants to revolt.

"It's not fair", "I can't eat like others", "This sucks".

Before you go there I want to encourage you to ask yourself some questions in order to bring awareness to the goal:

*  What are the reasons this makes sense to do if you want to stop over eating?

*  Why might it be hard emotionally?  (This my friend is key - everything we do in life is based on how we think we will feel.)  If you get a grip on this you will be onto the secret of the universe. 😉

*  How will you have to think about this differently if you want to lose weight and stop over eating?

 Take some time to really consider these questions.  Here's the thing - if you've tried everything else without any luck, why not give it a whirl?  Commit to 6 weeks and watch your results.  You might just blow your own damn mind.
