Try Managing This Instead of Your Calories To Begin Losing Weight
Our brains are amazing. It can be our biggest asset, and yet the thing that holds us back from change. Your animal brain, your lower brain, is what will hold you back. Your human brain, your evolved pre-frontal cortex - when managed - is what will be your biggest asset.
Our lower brain works on a motivational triad -
1. Avoid pain
2. Seek pleasure
3. Be as efficient as possible
So it likes to do what it knows.
It likes to do what is comfortable.
It likes to continue doing what is known and comfortable.
So it is totally normal to feel uncomfortable when trying to lose weight, trying to become a new version of your best self because you are starting new things, which is not always efficient.
Think about your commitment to losing weight. Why do you want it? This is what you want to remember when your brain is freaking out and telling you it will be hard. Think about the discomfort you will feel, and know that is where the gold is! That discomfort is simply because you are making changes, to grow and evolve. On the other side you will find your dreams.
You can embrace the discomfort and know that it will not kill you if you don't have those cookies. If you want to weigh a different weight you will need to start eating differently; this will not be efficient to your lower brain, and that ok. Practice all the thoughts of why you are committed to this goal. Over and over. When you repeat this you will eventually believe this. When you believe it, you will achieve it.
I promise, when you can manage your human brain you will begin to see the difference.
