This Is Why Getting To Your Goal Is Not Always Rainbows & Butterflies
It's been one of those weeks. You see - even though I've been doing this work for some time, and people ahead of me much longer - it never ends. Well, I guess it ends if you want to stop growing and evolving, but in order to move to the next stage there is always something. What I mean is - let's say you are setting a goal to begin drinking less. So you are where you are now, and you have in your mind where you want to go. We can consider where you want to go the land of rainbows, and butterflies and where as a fellow coach mentioned - where the unicorns have glitter coming out of their booty.
But here's the thing - the path there is the work. Our brains like to be efficient, so any change is usually uncomfortable. Its totally ok though, because you can tell your brain you are heading to get yourself some glitter. You keep taking action, learning, succeeding, taking more action and along the way reminding yourself of the reason why you are choosing to take your life to the next level.
But then you know what happens? You get there, and you want to bring your life to another - new - level. Once you have shown yourself you can cut back on your drinking you think - what else could I do? And it starts all over again. I'll share an example of how this discomfort showed up for me recently - this week I've been working to update content and add great value to my program, but all weekend I was learning new tech components, and my brain felt like it was exploding. Nothing seemed to go right, and for sure nothing seemed easy. I kept thinking I would feel so much more productive if I was cleaning the attic, sock drawer, toilet - you name it. But instead I had to remind myself that this is the part of building a business that isn't supposed to "be easy". This is just what I have to keep doing, and learning, and soon I will get to my rainbows and butterflies. And after I arrive to that patch of unicorns, I will want to scale my business and have to learn all new things.
This is the same for you and any goal you want to accomplish. As you make your way towards creating the life you imagine, remember it's not always supposed to be easy - if it were you would already have accomplished it. Now think about what color glitter you expect to having flying your way, and start taking massive action.
