The Game Plan For Drinking Less

Oh the start of football season - the time of year I lose my husband to work.  As I sat at his college game opener this past weekend I was thinking alot about the ladies I want to help, and how football has so many parallels to the work we do.

Coaches go into each game with a plan. Having a plan is one of the most important tools we use in drinking less. You have learned to over desire alcohol, and now in order to unlearn it, you plan with your managing mind how much you will drink. This is so important to building new neural pathways, and just like in football, takes repetition and practice.  The more you practice, the better you get.

Plays don’t always go as planned. Dropped balls, interceptions, and fumbles are part of the game. But a team doesn’t just stop playing when this happens - and neither should you. You learn from each missed plan, figure out what happened and try again.  We all love when our team comes from behind after a set back.  You too will feel so proud of each step you take, growing into the person you want to become along the way.

There may be hecklers in the stands.  Trust me - I know this as the wife of an Offensive Coordinator.  Everyone knows what you "should do" to win, but only you know what is really going on.  People can always have opinions - and they will, but when you are committed to doing the best for you - you will never lose.

Inches make a difference.  Sometimes it's everything.  And the work you do to drink less is the same.  This is not about one huge play.  Doing this work is about making small shifts and changes in the way you think about drinking in order to create the life you imagine.

The coach teaches, and the player executes.  When you sign up to do the work it is about you learning the tools, and then actually applying what works for you, in order to make your transformation.  You are the hero of your game - don't waste your time sitting on the bench.  Get in and get after the win you are looking for.
